Assistant Operations Manager

This position is for someone who is experienced with or willing to learn how to assist in the management of the day to day operations of the Integrated Ag Services (IAS) and Champaign Premium Grain Growers (CPGG). The core need for this position is the ability to manage technicians who are soil sampling, drone scouting, and custom applying fertilizers.  This position also requires a base understanding and a wiliness to sell and support the precision ag equipment sold at IAS.  In this position you will learn how precision agriculture works from the ground up.

Job responsibilities include: 

  • Scheduling and directing the in-field technicians and applicators
  • Scheduling direct shipment of products (logistics) from the terminal to the farm and field
  • When needed operate and teach others how to operate the soil samplers, drones for scouting, and application equipment
  • Assist in the management of product inventory and supplies 
  • Monitor in-field efficiency and accuracy
  • Understand and use the technology and data management tools used at IAS
  • Have the ability to critically evaluate decisions, problem solve, and prioritize work
  • Organize daily action plans and communicate those plans to staff and customers

Annual Salary: >$50,000 plus bonuses $1,000.00-$2,000.00.  Starting pay will depend on experience.  A work vehicle to and from work will be provided. There are many other benefits, paid vacation and personal time, retirement plan, health insurance, disability, and more.

Caution: This is a salary position. As a portion of your salary you will work approximately 6-8 Saturdays/year.  During the busy times you will work more than the normal 40 hours per week.

Required Skills for Position:

  • Four (4) year degree is preferred or experience in operations management, preferably in the agriculture field.
  • Mechanical skill set
  • An interest in selling, installing and troubleshooting precision ag equipment.
  • Enjoy managing and working with people in the agricultural community
  • General interest in agronomy and general crop production
  • Attention to detail and organization
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no major traffic violations
  • Willing to obtain a CDL license
  • Willing to work the additional seasonal hours as required
